The Real Stories Behind the Toppers: Hard Work, Dedication, and Family Support

The Real Stories Behind the Toppers: Hard Work, Dedication, and Family Suppor

Each year, results come out and suddenly the newspapers and internet is full of “toppers”.

You see ads claiming -
“Our student got Rank 1”
“All toppers are from our coaching”

"I have taught this topper

Some photos of same topper with coaching uniform logo of different coachings.

But if you see closely, many of those students never even studied there.

This article is not about promotion. It is about clarity and truth.

Because the truth is simple.
Every student can improve, but not everyone will be Rank 1.

Let’s understand what real toppers actually do.

1. Toppers Are Consistent- Not Magical
Kalpit Veerwal
Take the example of Kalpit Veerwal (AIR 1, 360/360 in JEE Main).

This student studied regularly for 2–3 years with a clear plan. No shortcuts.

Or Mrinal Kutteri (AIR 1, 720/720).

This student also focused more on revision than new books.

Lesson:
Toppers don’t study 15 hours daily suddenly.
They build habits slowly and stick to them regularly.

2. Strong Basics Matter More Than Tricks

Most of the toppers spend a lot of time on NCERT books ,its concept based solutions and fundamentals.

For example:

  • Divyansh Agarwal scored 100% by focusing deeply on basics concepts.
  • They don’t jump from one book to another.

Lesson:
If basics and concepts are strong, advanced questions become easier.

3. Time Investment Is Real

Let’s be honest.

Most toppers study:

  • 6–8 focused hours daily (not distracted hours away from mobile)
  • Regular revision periodically
  • Weekly self-testing and self evaluation

Not social media scrolling WhatsApp chatting with books open.

4. Family Support Plays a Big Role

Behind every toppers, there is a family support system.

Parents may not teach subjects, but they provide:

  • Discipline hyegenic environment
  • Emotional and encouragement support
  • Consistency in routine without failure

Example: Many NEET and JEE toppers openly credit their parents for keeping them organised.

5. Coaching Helps, But It Is Not Everything

Some toppers join big or small coaching. Some don’t.

The difference is not the coaching.
The difference is how the student uses resources of the coaching.

A good student can learn from:

  • School
  • Online platforms
  • Self-study

6. Real Data (Example Snapshot)

Here is a realistic format of topper information (for awareness, not comparison):

Name: Kalpit Veerwal
  • Exam: JEE Main 2017
  • Rank: AIR 1
  • Score: 360/360
  • School: MDS Public School, Kota
  • Preparation Time: ~2 years
  • Focus: NCERT + Coaching Material + Regular Tests
Name: Mrinal Kutteri
  • Exam: NEET 2021
  • Rank: AIR 1
  • Score: 720/720
  • School: Aakash Institute (Hyderabad program)
  • Focus: Revision + Mock Tests

7. The Truth About “All Toppers Are Ours”

If any coaching institution  says:
“We produced all toppers”

You can ask one simple question:
Did those students really study there full-time?

In many cases:

  • Students attend multiple platforms
  • Or are simply enrolled for test series
  • Or sometimes not connected at all
  • Or students connected only for study materials

Lesson:
Don’t choose coaching based on ads. Choose based on teaching quality and methodalogy.

Final Thought

You don’t need to become a topper to succeed.

That matters more than any rank.
